Matcha tea ceremonial whisk
These whisks are called Tyasen. Traditionally hand made from bamboo. There are only few craftsman in Japan who could make these whisks. Please take a look how Tyasen is made. It is incredible to watch how these 100 strands are shaved and shaped.
To froth milk, many of us would use a machine because it is difficult to do so with an ordinary metal whisk. However, tyasen makes milk, even cold milk, froth in no time! I use tyasen to mix all sort of drinks including cinnamon tea and cappuccino.
To clean, just rinse in soapy water, shake the water off and air dry. Always store tyasen standing on the handle.
