This is a Sake drinking cup with a traditional net design.

Net is one of the most favoured traditional patterns for Kimono and tableware as it symbolises ‘eternal connections’ or ‘catching fortune.’ Skilled artisans can draw a pattern which looks so realistic as if a dish is physically caught in a net.

It is possible to microwave Sake but I would recommend that you bathe a Tokkuri bottle in boiled water as a microwave oven would heat Sake too rapidly or unevenly. Sake temperature is sensed differently depending on the thickness and quality of the cups to drink from but generally people likes it somewhere between 40 and 45°C.
